The Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (FVAS) was established in 2020 at Mirpur University of Science and Technology (MUST) with the goal of developing highly skilled professionals in the field of Veterinary and Animal Sciences. Following the elevation of MUST’s Bhimber campus to a full university, FVAS became part of the University of Bhimber. Currently, the Faculty offers two undergraduate degree programs: Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) and BS in Animal Sciences, as well as a diploma program in Livestock Assistant (LAD). The curricula and syllabi for all programs are regularly updated to meet both national and international standards

The importance of livestock in Pakistan can be seen in several key areas, including agriculture, food security, rural development, and foreign exchange earnings. Livestock provides a source of food, fiber, and fuel for rural communities, and is also an important source of livelihood for many farmers and rural families. By investing in the development of the livestock sector, Pakistan can ensure sustainable economic growth and improve the standard of living for its people. The importance of livestock-based economy has resulted in the inevitable need of new academic institutes in the country in order to cater the relevant demands.
